AES Membership Categories and Requirements
The Androgen Excess Society has four categories of members: Active, Associate,
Corresponding, and Honorary.

Membership in the Society: Active Category
The Society was founded with the purpose of fostering and focusing greater research in the area
of androgen excess disorders research, and is committed to continuing these efforts. Consistent
with this goal, membership in the Active category in the Society requires the publication of at least
three peer-reviewed publications in the area of androgen physiology or androgen excess
research.

Active members will be entitled to all rights and privileges of the Society including full voting
privileges, running for office, and no or reduced cost registration at the Society's Annual Meeting.

Membership in the Society: Associate Category
One of the principal aims of the Society is to educate and provide patients affected by androgen excess, and the clinicians caring for them, with the most up to date information regarding these disorders, thereby improving the diagnosis and care of women affected with these common and
important disorders. Interested clinicians and patients are encouraged to become members of the
Society in the Associate category.
Associate members in the Society will consist of:
(i) Trainees (students, Fellows, etc.) who are currently participating in studies
contributing to our understanding of androgen-related disorders, as attested by a
letter from a faculty advisor/mentor; or
(ii) Clinicians with an interest in the treatment of androgen excess disorders, but who
have no demonstrable interest or experience in scientific investigation related to
these disorders.
(iii) Nursing/clinical research coordinators who are actively involved in the study or
treatment of androgen excess.

Associate members will be entitled to all rights and privileges of the Society, including no or
reduced cost registration at the Society's Annual Meeting, except the right to vote or hold office.

Membership in the Society: Corresponding Category
To facilitate membership by researchers residing in underdeveloped countries, the Corresponding
member category was created.
Corresponding members in the Society will consist of:
(i) Trainees (students, Fellows, etc.) who are currently participating in studies
contributing to our understanding of androgen-related disorders, as attested by a
letter from a faculty advisor/mentor; or
(ii) Clinicians with an interest in the treatment of androgen excess disorders, but who
have no demonstrable interest or experience in scientific investigation related to
these disorders.
(iii) Nursing/clinical research coordinators who are actively involved in the study or
treatment of androgen excess.

Only persons who are permanent residents of developing countries, as defined by the United
Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked
Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (www.un.org/ohrlls) can be eligible to
be a Corresponding Member.

Corresponding members will be entitled to all rights and privileges of the Society, except the right
to vote or hold office, and the right to no or reduced cost admission to the Society Annual
Meetings.
